Neko Eri is so cute.

*Ahem* And off we go with more SukuRan! These were definitely two of the more fun volumes. Volume 5 had a great Karen story, along with some developments with others, then went off to set up the big sports festival. Volume 6 was pretty much all about the festival.

I hadn’t noticed it until, well, pretty much the end of volume 6 (I’m slow shut up) but there was a lot of story build up for Eri and Harima. We’d get other character stories, like Karen, but we’d always have some Eri/Harima moments and the bulk of volume 6 dealt with them. The chemistry between them is interesting and sooo hilarious. I can’t quite fathom them hookin’ up but the (pseudo) set up towards it continues to make me laugh so… go for it Harima!

Oooh, but Harima and Tenma… hmm… no, I don’t really see that either. Fuck Oji so for Tenma… haha, I have no idea. Sure, this is a romantic comedy but the comedy elements completely overshadow the romantic stuff. It’s so heavily character driven, of which there are a shitload, so if anything, right now, it’s just fun seeing them do stuff.

Yeah yeah, rather simple way of going at it but if any of these characters irked me, I’d have a much less interest in reading it.

If anyone, Oji is the least fun one to see and he hardly shows up so no biggie. Hell, I don’t think he even showed up in volume 5 (and most of volume 4, if at all). Well hell, I don’t think Tenma or anyone even mentioned his name.

Ehhhh, it’d be nice if they worked towards a more noticeable path for some of the stories. I don’t expect “closure” or “endings” to any stories and it’s for no one in particular but since this has so many characters, it’s got a billion stories. If nothing even seems like it’s concluding or something… that’s just way too much shit hangin’ around.

Hahaha, I complain but shit, I really shouldn’t. I love this series and really have no complaints. I just bitch because I think too much.

Well, I wanted to watch the second season of School Rumble (I think I finished the first) but it’s been so long since I’ve immersed myself in anything School Rumble related. In other words, I’ve forgotten a lot of shit.

Soooo… I’m re-reading the manga, haha. I don’t remember where I left off in the manga but that wouldn’t make a difference. I would’ve re-read it anyway.

Hell, I love this series so it ain’t a big deal. I’ve missed these characters. Sure, there’s plenty of high school story cliches but it’s done so differently. There may be some cliche among each of the characters but most of them have some unique qualities that separate them from the typical.

And it’s funny as hell.

I suppose I could break them down and explain how they may differ from the same ol’.

I suppose.

But hell if I’m gonna.

The first three volumes set up most of the characters. There was some story and drama but it was mostly a big ass introduction to the characters and their relationships. More specifically, who is interested in who. The main reason I like this series is that it’s not just about the main characters. The focus of the story jumps around to nearly any character that has a name. It keeps the stories fresh and lessens the chance you’ll wear out on a character.

This is why I always complain about the male MCs in a lot of romantic comedies. Initially, their silly antics provide entertainment but as time passes, the majority of them end up as whiny bastards and I almost always HATE THEIR FUCKIN’ GUTS.

For this one, Harima isn’t bad. He’s not the typical male MC… not even close. He can be annoying though. The extent of his idoicy knows no bounds and at times, it really drives me nuts. Yes, it provides mountains of comedic moments but you can only take so much before it gets stale. I still love his character and don’t recall hating him back when I was diligently following this manga so that’s a good sign.

Tenma… I can’t hate Tenma. She’s equally idiotic but she’s too damn cute.

And for the rest, I can’t say any of them annoy the hell out of me yet. In fact, I rather like them all. And again, I love how they all get stories.

I can’t wait for more Karen!

I now she gets a story in the next volume or two but I can’t recall much after that. Her personality is a rehash of the typical “meek and shy” type cept she’s friggin’ buff, haha. And of all people, she likes Imadori, haha. What a great initial storyline. I don’t know, I just like her. Hope she gets more stories later on.
