About     Front     Main

Zero no Tsukaima – Futatsuki no Kishi [2]

I have absolutely no idea why I was compelled to start this up again.

I’m glad I did (for now). If the friggin’ second season started off with an episode like this, I would have finished the series already. Stupid ass first episode.

No retardedness just plenty of legit comedy and good faces.

I can’t suppress my praise for this episode. The comedy was silly w/o any perviness. Everyone, especially Saito, had some real nice faces. The drama felt real. Henrietta’s grief felt extremely real. Props to Kawasumi Ayako!

Basically, this episode was like last season except a bit more serious. How can that not be made of win? I hope to ALL THAT IS GOOD AND RIGHT that the first episode was a ploy and I won’t be seeing that nonsense EVER THE FUCK AGAIN.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t all superbness. Given some of the information in the early part of this episode, I thought this story was gonna be longer. More specifically, I thought it was the start of a bigger story. Instead, it was more a remnant of the last season and a bit of a cheap way of pulling at the heart strings.

Story aside though, everything else was awesome. There’s still plenty of this season left for silliness and what-not and I surely hope the seriousness shown in this episode doesn’t get lost. There was no faltering. The gang had to act and they did so w/o a hitch.

Of course, that probably won’t happen right away.

I’m torn. I’m afraid things will slip back like the first episode but I want to see more things like this episode plus the fun times that was the first season.

Friggin’ anime toying with my emotions!

Zero no Tsukiama – Futatsuki no Kishi [1]

What the hell was this? I’ve never gone through so many emotions while watching just one episode of anything.

This episode defined nonsensical.

Umm, so… here’s what went through my head while watching:

“What the hell?”
“Aww, that’s sweet.”
“What the hell?”
“OMG what’s wrong with him?”
“What the hell?”
“Dude, don’t look… dude!”
“What the hell?
“What the hell, stop that!”
“OMG what the hell?!”

Yeah, that’s pretty much it. This episode was so disjointed.

It starts off funky with Saito’s dream. Then we have a nice Saito and Louise moment in their bedroom. So far, so good… but that didn’t last. Next, we spend over half the episode witnessing Saito go Super Pervin’ Level 80… all the way up until the very last second where they drop a random bomb to finally start a story.

This was more like an epilogue to the first season. Hell, except for about 5 minutes worth of scenes, the rest of this episode didn’t need to exist.

I mean, since when the hell was Saito such a friggin’ perv? He had a few situations of “peeking” in the first season but for the most part, he remained innocent. I can’t call him pure, but by no means was he a perv. He had more pervy scenes in this one episode than all of the first season combined. Hell, he had more of those scenes in HALF this episode than TWICE the last season.

I’m gonna give this anime the benefit of the doubt. I’m gonna ignorantly think this was all just a ploy in utilizing more silly comedy and umpteen scenes of fan-service to generate a larger fan-base. I have to think this way. If I think otherwise, I’d stop watching. I enjoyed the first season too much to drop this sequel after just one episode.

Oh but I really want to.

They destroyed Saito’s image. I actually liked him. What the hell did he stay in this magic world for? It was for Louise, right? Why the hell is he being so stupid. That scene of him in the dungeon, those faces he was making and the things he was thinkin’ about? OMG I WANTED TO KILL HIM.

Benefit of the doubt… benefit of the doubt… benefit of the doubt…

*breathe*

This sequel better not waste my fuckin’ time…
