…and a story like in these episodes will keep me watching.

It took me 15 minutes to get passed the first 3 minutes of episode 24. I thought I resolved to chill with being so picky with Kenichi but I still ended up ripping my hair out in just these few minutes.

Thank gawd things picked up not too long afterwards… I also kept forcing myself to watch. After the last batch of episodes, I feel there really is progress for Kenichi plus some real enemies are finally showing up so it would’ve been a shame to cut myself off now.

Anyhow, Kenichi’s determination is definitely showing up more often. He’s still got a cowardly mindset and chooses to run first before standing ground but it doesn’t take 2379423 episodes for him to make up his mind now. Lately, his training sessions aren’t shown as much and it’s more real battles and encounters.

Could this finally be a legit turning point? Hell, there was a new intro and ending sequence in episode 26 so maybe…? Hopefully? I’d like to keep my Kenichi bitchin’s to a minimum.

Ahhh… ok. I will do it. I will stay strong. From this point on, I will stop bitchin’ so damn much about Kenichi’s attitude. Seriously, I will… except for the minor comment here and there.

Oh, I have one more conundrum. Once Kisara’s story ends, she’ll probably disappear like previous characters. That sucks. I liiiiiiike herrrrrr!

Kenichi going crazy was hawt. I was getting impatient watching until he finally did some cool shit. Unfortunately, it happened after Akisame’s lil spiel on how Kenichi becomes courageous when his friends need him or some shit like that.

I wanted to believe… I really did. I wanted Kenichi to not fall into the same ol’ stereotype. I wanted him to legitimately understand his situation and how he is improving and working hard and overcoming his own obstacles. I didn’t want him to be another cliche.

I truly hoped for something different.

Well, I can still hope. The manga is at a whopping 23 or so volumes and I find it impossible to believe this same Kenichi could carry the story for that long. There’s 40 episodes of the anime out and it has no end date so I can assume it’ll just keep going until it runs out of steam (or the manga actually ends). So again, I can’t fathom Kenichi’s attitude to go on that whole time.

Yes, he’s improving in terms of skill and ability but his mindset is still weak. He’s barely grown at all in that aspect. This isn’t about my hatin’ on his cowardness anymore. Honestly, he hasn’t shown that side of him that much throughout these episodes. If it appeared, it was more for comical effect.

He’s finally showing some good faces but now I’m exhausted having sat through all the crap. I also fear he’ll slip back into being a pussy… ehh… I should take a Kenichi break.

On a different note…

Miu is hella buff, ain’t she?

She took out Kisara like a practice dummy. If they showed their fight in real time, it probably took less than a minute. Given all the hooplah for Kisara, I highly doubt her skill was over-exaggerated so Miu is just insanely buff, right?

She’s pimp in normal mode but I wanna see more of her serious mode. That’s a hawt face she made when she was pissed off (top left cap). She has great combat sense and a variety of skills… man, I wanna see her at her limit.

Hmm… since Kenichi trying to “hit” (touch) Miu gets brought up often, I wonder when he’ll finally be able to do it? Given the skill disparity between them, it doesn’t seem like it’ll happen too soon… at least, not w/o it being a fluke.

Even though Kenichi pissed me off early in episode 18, he still showed a willingness to improve by the end. His sister gettin’ into a bind was much too predictable though.

One more episode and I wouldn’t have gone off on not seeing Tig… Kisara.

His ass better be lookin’ up now. He showed some nice faces in episode 19. I don’t mind him being a pussy now and then since it can still be funny but don’t let that define him anymore.

How many times has he done something uber buff and he didn’t even know it? Him taking out Tsuji in one hit wasn’t the first time he’s done something like that.

Ya, seriously, Kenichi needs to grow some balls already. It’s been 17 episodes man. Why’s he still a raging pussy?

And I have to take back what I said in the last entry. He’s so totally the “I’m a fuckin’ pussy but I kick ass when you piss me off” kinda guy. Well, I used different words last time but same shit. He has no balls, no courage, no self-confidence… nothing. He’s just full of fear. He’s gotten friggin’ buff and he just won’t realize it.

I said his shit was tolerable but not after 17 episodes… ARGH.

I’m pissed but it’s not cuz of the bitch. I’m pissed cuz the rest of the characters are still highly entertaining and everything else is pure fun. It’s only when Kenichi turns into Super Pussian level 3 that pisses me off and ruins my fun.

I want to watch more!

OMG! When they took the ladder away and he had to use the rope to climb to his second floor room, he bitched that he’ll die if he had to do that every day. WTF?! He gets knocked around like a rag doll, walks around town with 3 who-the-fuck-knows-how-heavy weights on his legs, and endures training that would make Rocky cry… yet he bitches about climbing a 10 foot rope?

It’s almost like they’re creating more shit for him to bitch about.

Ok ok, I hate bitchin’ about him, I really do. I want to like him. If I take out my negative emotions due to his pussiness, I am thoroughly enjoying this series.

Kenichi’s progress was interesting to watch in the first 12 or 13 episodes. Then they dropped the “everyone in HS is out to get Kenichi” story and went on to some bland episodes with Kenichi moving into Ryozanpaku.

First of all, they totally forgot about Tiger… err, I mean Kisara. Yeah yeah, I only care about her cuz she looks cool but I wanted to see how buff she was and how Kenichi would deal with her since he won’t hit girls.

Second, the batch of stories after the “beat up Kenishi” arc were annoying. Most of it entailed Kenishi acting cowardly. I felt he grew significantly over the previous episodes then regressed during the episodes afterwards.

He shows a good face here and there…

…and it’s probably how he really feels about things but they show his wussy side way too much.

During the last few episodes up until the end of episode 17, I exponentially became more annoyed by him. Oh man, I was ripping my hair out during his scene when he was telling Miu about the “guests.”

Gawd, why do I bitch so damn much about something I’m still gonna watch, hahaha. Yes, I’m gonna watch some more.

Fuck Kenishi, I still enjoy watching the rest of the goofy cast.

I made this a stopping point since it seems (maybe) Kenichi might finally realize he’s not a pussy and grow a fuckin’ backbone. His “EEEYAHHHH I’M GONNA DIEEEE” antics were initially funny but its getting stretched out now.

I know he was weak in the beginning but hopefully with his revelation that he really is improving (end of episode 7), he’ll stop sounding like a whiny bastard. Or at least sound less like a whiny bastard… cuz… like…

It’s even worse than when he did Bart in Vandread. I don’t mind the whinyness of the voice but if it was at least at the level of Kyo in Fruits Basket, it wouldn’t be so bad. Unfortunately, in this case…

Yet… yet… I don’t find Kenichi annoying. He’s a fuckin’ pussy and shows very little diligence; the exact type I detest in anime… yet, I don’t find him that annoying. If he wasn’t a damn perv, I might actually like him. As of now, I just tolerate him.

But enough about the wus. This show is hawt. Great characters and solid humor. Action ain’t too shabby either. It could use less still shots and more fluid movement but I can deal since the techniques are impressively drawn.

The masters are a riot. They crack me up so much.

Especially Ma Kensei

I laughed so damn hard during the above sequence. I had to pause it so I could finish laughing. Then I watched it again and laughed my ass off again. Then I watched it several more times… too much hilarity.

The story ain’t bad. The first episode really turned me off on Kenichi’s character and I would’ve dropped it if this series wasn’t recommended to me. He may be a pussy but his growth potential definitely exists. He’s not just your typical “I’m a wus but if you piss me off, I go nuts” character. He’s genuinely improving each episode though at a slightly unbelievable rate.

The masters say he has no innate skill and if that’s true, its a bit much that he’s getting buff so fast. Of course, that makes me believe he does have some inner talents and they’re lying to him… or something. In any case, he’s a pussy that is improving legitimately so with that outlook, I can tolerate him.

Dammit, why do I always get stuck on bitchin’ about the damn male MCs. He’s the last reason I’m enjoying this show.

Miu would be one of the main one’s.

Haha, ok, there’s more to it. She’s got a nice personality, very child-like. She reveals a fierceness when it comes down to it but she’s really innocent underneath. It’s a fun combo to watch. It kinda reminds me of Karen from School Rumble; hella buff with a total child-like girl on the inside.

Maybe that’s why I like Miu so much, hahaha… since Karen is the bestest thing to ever happen to School Rumble.

Shigure needs more screentime.

She’s too sexay to ignore.

She also displays an odd personality. She hasn’t done enough for me to really see what’s up with her but she’s definitely not normal. Hell, since none of the masters are normal, there’s no reason for her to be.

The next episode seems to involve more Shigure so that’ll be sweet.

I put this series off for so long but I’m glad I finally started it. I’m way behind so I’ve got a shitload of episodes to catch up on but on the bright side, I’ve got a shitload of episodes to catch up on.

Of course, I can’t soak in an anime very well if I marathon so much but… but… seriously, knowing I have so much good stuff to look forward to shouldn’t be a complaint, should it? I’m sure I’ll pace myself… probably…

This assumes I don’t grow tired of Kenichi’s wussy personality. He is definitely growing and that doesn’t just refer to his skill in martial arts. His personality is becoming more reliable and courageous. I just hope the growth continues (or hell, accelerates) cuz, to put it nicely…
