Nagasarete Airantou [17]

And it goes right back to the silliness.

And…

Like…

Ya know…

ZOMG Neko-Suzu!

Yes, it was quite a silly episode. It did make me think… if Chikage is so damn smart and she had that transformation magic, couldn’t she transform just the male animals as humans? Then the island can procreate again and such.

I know, it’s kinda sick if you think about it cuz they were animals but hell, everyone here is living primitively anyway and treating animals like humans so it’s not that awkward, eh?

Food for thought.

Heh, so much for using future episodes to go more into the characters.

These were all pretty much about Mei Mei.

Though, its not so bad. She doesn’t seem like she’ll be as exciting a character as most of the original cast but she does bring an interesting element to the show.

All the girls on this island grew up not knowing what a “man’s” role is, as defined by Ikuto of course. Mei Mei did grow up in that environment. She knows how a guy can be “cool” as she noted at the end of episode 16 and how a “normal” girl acts.

Unlike Suzu, Mei Mei covers herself up

Her typical “girlish” reactions may lead to some interesting bits later. Maybe… that presumes this anime will start getting serious at some point… which is hard to presume… quite hard… Then again, Ikuto’s diligence during his fight with Tiger did appear serious. It was brief but it’s definitely notable since that so rarely happens.

Damn, thinking back, Mei Mei got a big introduction story. Three consecutive episodes so far just for her. I marathoned the previous 14 episodes so my memory is hazy but I don’t think any of the girls got that many in a row.

Hmm… I’m thinking way too much on such a simple anime, hahaha.

This anime is so fun.

Oh yeah, and how the fuck is that papa chicken the leader of the West… hahaha.

This was another “was reading the manga but watched the anime instead” title.

The manga was solid with plenty of laughs. The anime took that to a whole new level, beyond the realm of silliness.

I loved it.

To start off, Ikuto, the MC, passes with flying colors. He acts more like a shounen fighting MC than a harem comedy MC. It works out nicely. He’s not hesitant when he needs to act, he’s driven by the credo that nothing is impossible, and he’s not always thinking of perverted thoughts. It’s so refreshing. When I “rate” male MCs, I generally go from “I hate this fucker” to “he’s ok” but Ikuto may be one of the rare few that I’d rate as “I actually like him.”

He allows me to not hate this anime while it’s the girls that really drive this show. They all have their cliches combined with exaggerated silliness. Every one of them goes from “normal” to incredibly silly in a heartbeat and it busts me up every time. I can’t call these girls “unique” but there is something about them that separates them from the norm.

It’s funny, as I watch, I’ll think “she’s hilarious, she’s probably my fave character” then an episode or two later “oh, that one’s now my fave” then later in that episode “oh, she’s definitely my new fave” and rinse repeat. I swear, they keep doing something funnier than the last one and top each other constantly. I can’t help it, they all provide quality entertainment.

I had mixed feelings when starting the manga since I assumed it was another harem comedy. It’s quite different from what I expected and definitely not a rehash of the same ol’. The (non-existent) story is its biggest downfall but if I watch this show like a sitcom, it turns out just fine.

I don’t feel like going way into this since I’m lazy but I’m sure I’ll talk about more specific things, like the hilarity of each girl, as I blog new episodes.
