Current anime obsessions:
Kamichu!
Shakugen no Shana
After a lull, someone finally continued Kamichu! Happy happy joy joy.
See, it’s such the obsession that it’s on my secondary monitor:
EDIT: Yep, dead link so here’s a link to the wallpaper itself.
It’s just a relaxin’ watch with solid humor and a lil bit of romance thrown in to keep things tense. The characters are cute and fun, especially the MC (bottom right foreground on my wall). Just another one of those “slice-of-life” animes that I seem to enjoy so much.
As for Shakugan no Shana, it’s just addictingly good. Serious and rather hardcore but plenty of comedic moments. The male MC isn’t too much of a whiny bastid and Shana has unique characteristics… well, more accurately, she has a variety of personality traits taken from various types of characters so it seems unique.
I’m lovin’ it.

Dengeki Daioh. It’s a manga anthology. I love it. Every anime/manga that I’ve seen/read from it has been good. I’ve yet to not enjoy something from it. To be honest, that was the reason I even started Shakugan no Shana. Check it out:
Azumanga Daioh
Ichigo Mashimaro
Kamichu
Kashimashi -Girl Meets Girl-
Kokoro Library
Ninin ga Shinobuden
Shakugan no Shana
Yotsubato!
All those are from Dengeki Daioh. All good stuffs I tell ya. If I ever learn to read Japanese, I’m getting that mag.
As I was saying, I put off Shakugan no Shana even though I heard it was good. While looking for titles that came from Dengeki Daioh, I found out Shakugan no Shana was from that. Well, seeing as how I’m simple-minded, I had to immediately check it out.

Ichigo Mashimaro was great. Laid back, “slice-of-life” random comedy series. The manga was funnier but the anime did a good job conveying the same humor. It’s just silly girls doing silly things, much in the same way as Azumanga Daioh.
Highly recommended if you’re an AzuDai fan.
Magikano is my new fave comedy, especially since Ichigo Mashimaro is now over. It’s not much different then your typical shounen romance comedy with some magic thrown in but it’s not the story I’m liking. It’s just the humor. Alot of random humor, but not-so-much the “slapstick” variety found in AzuDai. They just throw out all kinds of different humor styles and I find it all fuckin’ funny. ’nuff sed.
While rewatching Irresponsible Captain Tylor, I just now realized that the tone of the series is rather serious. There’s a lot of unbelievable and silly and inane things going on and much of the crew of the Soyokaze has an extreme quirk that’s hard to take seriously but if you really pay attention, you don’t get that “comedy” feel while watching it. I always took the series as a parody, of sorts, to scifi anime but I’m thinking it’s more then that now. It’s just something interesting I noticed after all this time. Really strange, it is. No sense, it makes. Long time to find out, it took.
As soon as I catch up on some things I’ve been, uh… catching up on… I think my next rewatch will be Martian Successor Nadesico. Back when I first watched it, I had very little anime experience. In other words, I hadn’t watched NEARLY as much anime as I have now, especially those related to the scifi genre since Nadesico is a parody of that genre. I wanna check it out again to see how different things are since I have more reference and would get a lot more of the jokes now. Plus, I bought the series and it’s a shame to buy any DVDs and only watch it once. It’s probably one of the few anime DVDs in my collection that I’ve only watched once.
