Only 2 episodes into this series and I’m already confused. No, I’m not referring to the story but how I should be reacting. At times, it seems so normal. When it’s not crazy violent or trying to be mysterious, it doesn’t have any of that ominous atmosphere. If one randomly jumped into somewhere in an ep and saw one of the “normal” scenes, you would never believe it was so violent. It’s just… strange… but I’m enjoying it. Right from the start, the story seems intense. I’m getting curious as to Saya’s real person and if she’s really fucked up (like, if she was the same girl as the one before the op in the first ep… which I’m thinking she is… but can’t say yet).

This series could turn out quite interesting.

Well, the scene before the opening credits was violent… and just plain wrong. The poor child… this series seems like it’ll be fucked up already.

Then we have all the stuff after the opening. One could think it would’ve been a normal HS anime about some girl named Saya. Of course, you’d have to stop watching before the last five or so minutes of this episode since it starts getting crazy again. This was a gripping first episode. I fear it’ll be a really jacked up anime. That’s not just referring to a lot of violence and shit but I mean, killing off people you get to know and hardcore shit like that. Of course, Gantz has totally desensitized me to absolute random and unexpected deaths but I’m sure it’d still affect me.

The animation is top notch. It’s very fluid and the art incorporates vibrant colors. That’s Production I.G for ya. Then again, this is a big ticket series so they should be pulling out the big guns anyway.
