Aria [6]

Eh, the sentimental stories and moments feel forced. Given how nice the 4th ep was, these past two eps have either been trying too hard or they used up all the good stuff in that ep. The peaceful nature of the anime is still nice. Akari, unfortunately, still doesn’t have much of a personality of her own but the chars around her are entertaining enough. In the end, my interest for this series keeps dropping off after each ep… I really do hope the apex of my interest wasn’t back at ep 4.

And if it wasn’t enough having one weird cat, now there’s a panda-cat. Well, it’s not a panda but it sure as hell looks like one.

See?

Too many weird cats in this series… well, they provide entertainment that is otherwise lacking from other scenes so I gueeeesss that’s ok. This series needs something a lil more “majestic” or “unreal” or else it’s gonna lose all my interest. I don’t expect a sudden plot twist or anything crazy but it really is missing something. I can’t quite put my finger on what yet… but…. something.

Aria [5]

Following the last episode, this one was bland. I guess you just have to have the obligatory swimsuit episode. It had its moments but let’s hope this is about as slow and uneventful as it gets.

Of course, the weird cat continues to entertain.

He’s still hopelessly in love…. and it doesn’t help that his interest is a raging bitch.

Or maybe he’s just plain hopeless. The lil bugger is growing on me now. The whole “WTFJSLDJFLKSDJFLK is this shit” stage has subsided and now he’s just another strange but sorta cute and funny animal. Damn. I wanted to make fun of it more.

Maybe next ep!

Aria [4]

Wow, that was a bittersweet ep. Well, the end of it anyway. I didn’t expect that. The whole time, it seemed like a rehash of old stories but it ended differently. I think I liked it. Even though I kinda expected it, the impact was still a bit different. I also spent nearly two hours watching this ep, going back and forth from other unnecessary things, so that might have changed the way I watched this ep… heh…

I’m curious about the narration. The eps seem to be a visual display of the correspondence between Akari and Ai, as if what I’m watching is something that’s already happened. It could just be an effect but it makes me wonder if it’ll play into something bigger later. Doubtful, given the type of anime it is but I still wonder.

Huzzah for days off. I should crash now so I don’t wake up past midnight, heh.

EDIT: Sonuva no pics again.

Aria [3]

Really. Seriously. This cat is weird.

But he’s funny.

And he’s hopelessly in love.

Hahahahaha.

Poor guy…

How much longer am I gonna get hung up on this weird cat?

Aria [2]

Ok, so it’s a cat. A friggin’ weird ass cat.

I don’t know why I didn’t notice it in the first ep but the premise is really strange. I mean, sure, it’s a slice-of-life show so there doesn’t have to be a “real” plot but there’s always something that drives it. In this case, it’s about Akari and her goal of becoming a gondola uh… rower… undine is what they call it but yeah… piloting or rowing gondolas… see? It’s strange. Of course, there’s a lot more to it. It’s more about everyday life and meeting people and experiencing new things… the same shit I said about ep 1. However! That premise still exists and it’s… strange!

Ahh, but it doesn’t matter. It’s not like an anime about making bread, playing GO, or running a library is any less strange of a premise. Or even enslaving monsters in small, circular torture chambers and cruelly forcing them to battle against other enslaved monsters for the sole purpose of these maniacal masters’ sadistic enjoyment in hopes of becoming the subjugator of all these monsters so as to eternally revel in his own hedonistic fantasies…… yeah, or that one.

EDIT: Oops, I never mentioned that the last one was an incredibly warped and skewed description of Pokemon. Hahaha, I have a fucked up mind.

*ahem* …back on topic…

This series has more humor than I expected and it blends in well with everything else. The facial exaggerations stand out a bit though. The first ep didn’t have that many but this ep had a lot. It stands out because the quality of the art for these exaggerated expressions drops off significantly. Plus, they’re really… stale. They basically draw the expression and hold it there until the chars face changes back to normal. It’s strange given the solid quality of art and animation used in the normal scenes. Eh, but that’s just a minor thing I’m picking on. In any case, it’s becoming an enjoyable ride… but then, I’ve yet to watch a slice-of-life anime that I didn’t enjoy.

EDIT: WTF, why didn’t I post any pics.
