An often neglected anime blog. (This page last updated: July 25th, 2007)

There are spoilers abound in this blog and as such, you should tread carefully. Of course, this warning only works if you clicked this tiny ass link at the top of the page before perusing any entries.

I hope you did!

I have enjoyed anime for nearly 15 years and as such, I am overly critical when discussing it. I tend to lean towards the cynical side and often become obsessed with minor details. Even so, I can easily sit back and soak in the most complex shows without so much as a single thought. I suppose it’s really based on how much I feel about ranting about things.

My thoughts and views are inconsistent and probably confusing, to say the least. This anime blog provides an outlet for the ever-constant thoughts that pop into my head and maybe some of you can relate. This isn’t intended to cater to anyone but myself though I do hope those that stumble upon it enjoy their stay.

A semi-brief history:

I first recall watching anime around 1993, renting shows like Ranma 1/2, Tenchi Muyo and Battle Angel Alita and watching Dragon Ball and Sailor Moon on TV. Yes, I watched Sailor Moon. The anime selection in America wasn’t exactly extensive back then… plus I kinda liked it. Seriously.

I stopped watching anime in 1995 or 1996 mainly because I ran out of new anime to watch after renting everything the local video stores carried. Once I graduated high school in 1996, I completely forgot about anime.

I didn’t get back into anime, or rather, truly get into anime, until 2001. A co-worker at the time literally begged me to watch Cowboy Bebop and didn’t stop until I did. Yeah, he was a strange kid. Suffice to say, I was blown away by Cowboy Bebop and immediately wanted more. I started collecting those DVDs right away and borrowed his Trigun DVDs.

Soon afterwards, I encountered my first fansub, Love Hina. Unfortunately, the last half of the episodes on his disc that I borrowed were corrupted. This was the seed that began my future anime addiction. I quickly became an mIRC and anime information gathering pro as I hunted down the rest of these fansubs. Once acquired, I had to look for other shows. At this time, fansubbing wasn’t “standardized” and the selection was minimal.

Eventually, more and more fansubbers came on the scene and by the end of 2002, fansubs were rampant. As such, my infatuation with anime only increased.

Fast forward a bit and I have now immersed myself in this culture. As I perused the interwebs for Read or Die TV information, I came across Momotato’s blog. This was my first encounter with an anime blog and much thanks to him for providing one that was highly entertaining. With my new facination, I searched around for more anime blogs and found a new outlet for enjoying anime.

At this time, It’d be nice if I said I was inspired to create my own anime blog but alas, that was not to be. I merely enjoyed reading about other people’s thoughts on anime titles I was also all up into.

I took a break from anime in early 2005 and got back into it late 2005. I had a Xanga at the time and slowly noted anime I was watching. It wasn’t until early 2006 that I really began blogging anime. That blog turned into a combo personal and anime blog until I created another Xanga for just anime. Not too long after, I created this blog which officially opened up in April 2006. Sadly, that’s only a close estimate since I lost all my entries on this blog prior to April 2007 (See the last section of this page below).

Due to my mishap, I suppose the now official birth of this anime blog is April 9, 2007, though I didn’t start blogging anime again until June 9th, 2007.

And that’s my lil history on anime obsession!

All entries dated March 2006 or earlier were transferred from my old Xanga.

There is a large gap between entries (from March 2006 to April 2007) due to my incompetence. In April 2007, while trying to sort some things out between my many blogs, I inadvertently destroyed the MySQL database for this anime blog and in turn, lost all entries during that gap. Yes, it was quite a depressing moment.

During this period, I was addictingly into anime blogging so I lost many entries. Sometime in late 2006, real life issues (and World of Warcrack) caused me to put anime on a temporary hiatus.

Move along to June 2007 and I’ve started anime (and manga and other related entertainment) back up again. So, it’s a lil funky but this will mark the rebirth of my long forgotten, poorly cared for and sadly neglected anime blog.

Eventually, I’ll archive the old Xanga entries so they’ll be reflected differently than current entries here. Right now, perusing through most of those entries makes it seem like it was posted here and it can get a lil confusing. Once I figure out a satisfactory method, I’ll move them around.
