Well, here we are.

This post wasn’t on either of my Xanga’s nor is it from before I lost the MySQL database for this site. So what’s it doing here?

I have a bunch of screenies and some loose memories of the year or so I spent working on this anime blog and it would be a shame to let it be forgotten just like that. I was thinking about keeping a current post and jotting down some of this stuff but I’ve decided to just plug it in here after the last of my old anime blog entries.

Yeah, it feels a bit fake since this is the one post that was not created at the time it’s listed but if I read through this blog chronologically, it just makes more sense being here.

Or I might not do anything. I don’t know yet. So in essence, this entry is just serving as a placeholder for potential things to come.

Mahoraba [2-6]

The characters surrounding Ryushi are all so quirky but it’s a shame he’s such a boring MC.

Episodes 2 & 3 closed out the little intro arc revolving around Kozue and her multiple personalities. It was especially interesting at the end of the 2nd episode. When Kozue got all shocked again, it seemed obvious she’d change into Saki again but they threw in a third personality. Something surprising like that would definitely keep me interested. From the start, Kozue was running the show so it didn’t matter what I thought about Ryushi.

That is… it worked fine for those first three episodes. The next three eps went into individual character stories. Episode 4 wasn’t too bad since it was more story for Kozue and overall, it was a pretty funny episode. Plus, it was the first episode for Miyabi, the art teacher, and well… she’s so freakishly cute that she makes a funny supporting character… presuming they show her more.

Then again, maybe she’s just freaky….

Episode 5 & 6 were slow though. Ep 5 went into Asami and Sayoko’s story a bit while ep 6 showed a slightly different but mostly the same side of Tamami. The only memorable scenes were the one’s that had Sayoko doing something silly. Even then, the eps weren’t that exciting overall.

Hell, the funniest Sayoko moment was in episode 3 when she popped out of nowhere and tore into the groceries.

It’s amazing how incompetent she is as a mother. I know it’s comedy but her irresponsibleness and laziness is so extreme… I pity Asami… but I still find Ayoko hilarious…… I’m at an impasse.

Ryushi is getting wussier by the minute but it’s hard to completely blame him. Megumi and Tamami don’t exactly give him any room to be manly. They are so dominating that I actually feel sorry for Ryushi at times. I hope this whole pattern of him getting pushed around doesn’t last too much longer. It’s starting to get annoying. Sure, it’s still funny but eventually the annoyance will outgrow the humor.

I want to like this series since most of the characters are fun to watch but right now, it’s slipping to borderline watchable. Meh, I shouldn’t judge too quickly since it’s still in the “introduce a character per episode” stage. They need to bring on more Kozue stories (with and without her other personalities) and I’ll maintain interest. She’s the only character that doesn’t have something that annoys me… well, her and Johnny… heh…

He should get more screentime, too.

His absolute WEIRDNESS deserves it.

Magikano [10]

Not a mention as to what happened at the end of the previous episode… just another random silly story containing more sexual innuendos (in exaggerated parody form) than could possibly be in just one episode of anything.

I am definitely not complaining… hehe…

Fan service is one thing but what this episode had was totally different. Sure, on the surface, a lot of the scenes could be chalked up as fan service but the reason it’s different is because it doesn’t do it solely as “fan service” but it parodies these situations. The over-exaggerations and funny textual cover-ups were only a part of it… and in the end, it was a complete riot once again.

I just can’t NOT laugh! They take seemingly normal and innocent girls and turn them into crazed fools at the drop of a hat. The more I watch this series, the more I’m inclined to calling it a “parody” of a harem comedy and not just another extension of the same genre. It has its share of (somewhat) original content but at the same time, whenever it does a typical scene found in harem comedies, it takes it to such an exaggerated level that I can’t help but think it’s making fun of it.

And I love the angry faces, especially if you take into account how innocent these girls are in the eyes of Haruo.

This show will continue to (and probably forever will) confuse the hell out of me… yet make me laugh my ass off consistently.

Magikano [9]

Marvel at my shoddy attempt at splicing two screen caps

Seriously, this series goes against all the “rules” of a harem comedy… and continues to make me laugh my ass off.

Just when I thought this was gonna be another typical high school cultural festival episode, they turned it all upside down and made it hella crazy. Those battle scenes with the various nursery book characters were a riot, especially that really silly combination of the three wolves… hahaha.

Left to right, the wolf from:
Little Red Riding Hood, Seven Little Goats, and Three Little Pigs.

Oh, and I can’t forget the outlandish Queen of Hearts…

Hahaha, they just had to turn her into some S+M crazed chick to appeal to… um… hell, I can’t even guess why they did that.

Behind all the incredibly silly comedy, there was some actual plot development (GASP!). I had long forgotten there *was* a plot since all I do is laugh during every episode. Ayumu seems to have gotten her first inclination of maybe kinda sorta liking Haruo but it was fleeting. Then there’s Haruo going crazy at the end of the episode… I have no reaction to that, especially since the scene cut back to when the play just started as if nothing happened… it was just weird.

One Piece [180]

Oh the intensity! Fuggin’ chars are droppin’ like flies…

Just like that, it went from 6 to 2 not including Luffy and Aisa. Of course, there’s no way Enel is done but as far as this episode has shown, only Nami and Wiper still stand.

And dammit! Luffy didn’t make an appearance AT ALL in this episode. Not even a glimpse or a mention. He hasn’t been shown ever since Enel pwnd that snake so I suppose they trying to make us think he’s done for… but hell naw he ain’t. He too buff.

If they wanted to show off how powerful Enel is, they sure as hell did that in this episode. He picked apart Gan Fall and Robin like nothing and messed up Zoro easy… but it also shows how buff Zoro is since he got shocked and still remained conscious. I don’t think Enel used a special attack though.

Ahhhh, I was gonna save this ep until I got more later but shit, as can be obviously seen, I couldn’t. I lub One Piece too much.
